Smile microplus500

i bought this boat about a year ago ,first i had to make a trailer for it, as the one i brought the boat home on was a total wreck, when i got it home, i jacked it up to put it on axel stands , one of the wheels actually fell off , the bearing had collapsed,i bought a gutted caravan off ebay, (£80) bargain, all the other bits were bought from boat jumbles,i built it in my back yard, but i had to dismatle it to get it out of the yard,i have taken every thing of the boat that will come off (a lot of rusty mild steel , which i will replace with stainless, i have just started to remove the paint (a least 5 layers on the hull) i ve put a couple of pics up tp show how far i have got , as i progress i will add more pics if your interested watch this space cheers for now
PS the first pic is how the boat was when i bought it , but it didn't come on that trailer
2/8/08 got the electrical cupboard shaped & fitted today.the front part i have made as a drop down door,as you can see all the switches are masked up and i have put the first coat of undercoat on, i will paint the cupboard when i do the cabin

Hi JPM,

Looks like you have done a lot of the hardwork now, how are you going to finish off all the bare GRP?

Thumbs up Finishing Off

HI BENBO
i wish i had done most of the work , but i have a lot of paint to get off the hull , i have got to get rid of all the red antifoul paint and another 4 coats of some sort of gloss, that is under the antifoul but when that is done iwll be putting 3 coats of undercoat on the hull . the undercoat i will be using is JOTUN Pengauard HB , it is a high build two-pack epoxy coating based on epoxy resin with high molecular weight, for the top coat of the hull i will be using JOTUN Hardtop AS which is a two-pack polyurethane topcoat gloss( white) ,the top part of of the boat i will be keeping yellow, but still using jotun pengaurd hb and hardtop as .inside the boat (cabin & deck area) i will use a white brightside polyurethane gloss. as the boat will live on a trailer i will not be putting antifoul paint on

hope this answers your question benbo cheers

Hi jmp
I have a microplus571 which i`ve got this year. I`ve not used it this year because of the terrible weather. It needs some repair work done ,mostly on the inteior. I`ll put some pics up as soon as figure out how too. I`m interested in how you get on with similar project as I plan do some work on the boat myself.
