I've got the rev counter below for my 1993 Merc 75hp 2 stroke but it will not work.
The light comes on with the igniton and the needs shows 0 revs. When i start the engine the needle stays where it is. When i stop the engine the needle moves back upto to 900 RPM so i guess it does work. I have tried all settings on the back also. Someone did tell me i need to put it on setting 12 but as you can see, its not there??? Thanks in advacnce Shonzy

shonzy i sent a post under older mercury newer tach for this, check it out. you have the same problem as i have. as for setting 12, you should put it on setting 6. once i turn my engine off, my needle goes round the dial a bit too. my engine is an 80hp mercury 1988. alan

I tried 6 and nothing happened. As far as i can see my wiring seems to be the same as yours in the pic.
